History of the Troy Marching Trojans

The Students:

The Troy Marching Trojans have been performing regularly at home football and basketball games as well as various events around the state and the country since 2010. The Marching Trojans are composed from a multitude of students in grades 7-12. They work diligently throughout the year starting before school where they attend band camp and start learning their shows for the upcoming football season. Their hard work and dedication never ceases through the year and continues well past the school year where they attend summer events as well.

Marching Trojan Performances and Awards:

The Marching Trojans have performed and been awarded at various venues for the last three years. Some of the performances and awards include:

2010-KU Band Day in Lawrence, Kansas (Parade in Downtown and Halftime Performance at the KU Football Game)

2010-The Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin, Kansas (Parade in Downtown)

2011-The Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kansas (Parade in Downtown and Stadium Performance with a II rating on the fair grounds)

2012-July 4th Parade in Downtown Troy, Kansas

2012-Hiawatha Halloween Parade, in Hiawatha, Kansas (Parade in Downtown with a I rating and the Top Rating Score of 48/50)

The 2011 Alamo Bowl Game in San Antonio, Texas: Field Show Competition, Parade Competition, and Halftime Performance at the Alamo Bowl Game between Baylor and Washington.

Awards include:    

Outstanding Percussion in Field Show Competition

Outstanding Music in Field Show Competition

Outstanding General Effect in Field Show Competition      

Outstanding Marching in Field Show Competition      

Outstanding Percussion in Parade Competition

2nd place in Parade Competition

1st place in Field Show Competition

Sweepstakes Award for best overall in all competitions

2013-Walt Disney World Thanksgiving Day Parade of Bands, Walt Disney Studios, Orlando, Florida. Marched down Downtown Hollywood Studios, Played arrangements of Disney Movie pieces with the famous “Boston Brass”.

2014-Hiawatha Halloween Parade, in Hiawatha, Kansas (Parade in Downtown with a I rating and the Top Rating Score)

Tentative Performances:

December 5th 2014-Feast of Carols Concert

February 4th 2015-Concert with the “Boston Brass” at the Troy High School.

 

Directory Biography:

Mr. Matt Allison completed high school in 2002 at Jefferson West High School in Meriden, Kansas. He is a 2006 Music Education Graduate from Kansas State University. He taught K-8 music for 4 years in Phoenix, Arizona before moving to the Kansas City Area in 2010. He has taught for the Troy Public Schools District for the last three years at the K-12 music instructor. He was awarded the Master Teacher Award for the Troy Public School District in 2012. He currently continues to share his love of music with his students. He is married to his wonderful wife of 8 years, and they have three amazing children, ages 7, 5, and 3.
