The Cod Tongues return to the Manluk Theatre for a full night of Celtic (Newfie-Irish-and Scottish) and Canadian Folk Music with lots of energy for  toe tapping and singing along, as well as providing a big serving of FUN!

On October 21, 2010, the Minister of Canadian Heritage officially declared April 6 as Tartan Day. It is celebrated on April 6 because it is the anniversary of the signing of Declaration of Arbroath in 1320, the Scottish declaration of independence. Since it is not yet an official holiday in Alberta, we decided to celebrate it on Saturday April 8.

So join us as we all celebrate Tartan Day together.  Wear your Clan colours or if you don't have a Clan (yet) wear someone else's Clan Colours and they may even adopt you. It is encouraged that people wear the tartan of their clan or country on this day, but if you don’t have one, there are also 4 universal tartans: The Black Watch, The Hunting Stewart, The Caledonia, and The Jacobite.

You may also get the chance to become a member of the

“Order of the Cod Tongue”!!

Whatever happens, and whatever you wear, one things is for certain: this will be an evening of unsurpassed fun and high energy, celtic style!!!

The band features local Wetaskiwin artists:

  • Pius MacLean (guitar)
  • Terry Banack (keyboards)
  • Jen Gibson (lead vocals)
  • Christine Holubec-Jackson (bass guitar)
  • Ken Jackson (drums)
